A sailor drifting in his yacht near Kalmar off the coast of Sweden became distraught when he thought his wife had fallen overboard. He called the emergency services, believing she had drowned.
When rescuers reached the boat they discovered the sailor was drunk with a broken tiller, and there was no sign of the wife. A short search later revealed that his wife had been safely at land the whole time, the Local reports.
After fixing his tiller, the rescue team towed him back to shore. He was breathalysed and arrested for boating whilst drunk.
